The barbless Tenkara Selection. Tenkara flies (or "kebari") place less emphasis on imitation and more on the importance of their presentation and manipulation. Freshwater anglers in Japan are known to have been using flies to imitate insects by using silk, fur and feathers, at least as long as 430 years ago. Tenkara flies have developed to be very effective at catching trout while remaining simple and versatile patterns. All of our tenkara flies are hand-tied using barbless hooks, in sizes 14 and 16 using quality materials.

Descriptions and photo's of the flies can be found below:

Amano Kebari. This is the only tenkara fly used by Mr. Katsutoshi Amano, a name readily recognized by tenkara practitioners in Japan. Like most tenkara masters in Japan, Mr. Amano sticks with one fly pattern, and his entire box is filled with the same exact fly - same size, same colour. This tenkara fly comes alive when underwater, especially if pulsated. This selection contains two each of sizes 14 & 16.

Takayama Kebari. The Takayama Kebari is a classic tenkara fly that is tied in many colour variations. It’s characterized by having a thread abdomen, a peacock thorax, and a forward-facing hackle. This is one of the go-to flies with many tenkara fishermen. This selection contains two each of sizes 14 & 16.

Ishigaki Kebari. The Ishigaki Kebari fully embraces the simple spirit of tenkara fly fishing, where more emphasis is placed on the technique of the angler, not on the gear he uses. This selection contains two each of sizes 14 & 16.

Oki Kebari. Particularly effective for when the water is flowing fast, or for when there is lots of colour in the water, this tenkara fly should be in every anglers fly box. The forward-facing hackle also ensures a lively fly underwater. This selection contains two each of sizes 14 & 16.

Note: Should the "Tree Trout" steal any of your flies, I am happy to sell flies individually to allow you to top up your box. Please contact me using this link with details of your order, and I will email you an invoice. Tenkara flies can be bought for £1.25 per fly.

The above price includes 16 hand-tied Tenkara flies supplied in our eco-friendly packaging.. We currently have these fly selections in stock and will ship these to you as soon as we receive notification of your payment, generally if a payment is made in the morning your flies will be with you the very next day.
