Not normally commercially available, this fly has been tied to the exact original specifications, with help from members of West Beck Preservation Society, based in Driffield.

The Driffield Dun is named after the water on which it was first intended to be fished, the 'Driffield Beck' - a chalk stream in the north of England.

This fly is believed to have first been mentioned in the article "Sarcelle" in the Spring issue of the Flyfishers' Club Journal in 1922. It was then thought to be a variant of the Whirling Blue Dun.
